Indian Food in Japan

On Tuesday April 10, my new friends and I went out to dinner near campus at a place called Mumbai. We honestly didn't know where to eat. Juliette and I had Japanese curry like 3 times that weekend so we knew we didn't want that. As we wandered along the street we saw a sign for Indian curry and we were all curious so we tried it out. It was SO good! Not only was good it good, but it was filling, cheap, AND we got free mango lassis for being students. Pictured on the right is the Butter Chicken special which comes with a giant piece of naan, salad, and rice all for only about $10.

The second place I went to a lot was Siddique Palace. As a Sophia student you can access this restaurant through the East Gate. It is located next to the 7-11 underneath the Tully's Coffee shop. This became our lunch spot every Friday after class. They have a similar lunch special that comes with salad and rice or naan. The lunch special I always got was the Ladies Thali which included any two curries, rice, naan, and a small dessert (yogurt something). They always serve the salad either before you order or while you're waiting for your food. I liked this special because it was filling and I was able to get two types of curry instead of just one. The other regular specials were just one curry with the choice of naan OR rice. The student discount was usually 100 yen off your total. I liked this more than the free mango lassi because I can't drink milk so I prefer money off than a free drink I can't have. Siddique Palace was also closer, since my friends had another class after lunch.

So overall, I can't say one place was way better than the other it just depends on what you want. BUT, I will say that I prefer Siddique Palace for lunch, and Mumbai for Dinner. Siddique Palace is a rip off for dinner don't do it.
