Just a brief recap of how I busted my knee within two days of being in Japan. AND how I fixed it!
I mentioned in my last post that my knee was super upset with me while I was walking around looking at the beautiful cherry blossoms, and this is what I meant. The first picture is my knee the next morning, after pushing it to the max with orientation and seeing the cherry blossoms. My left knee has given me problems in the past but not since high school. My only conclusion was that my body hadn't been used to the excessive amount of walking, which shocked my knee. Needless to say that morning I got ice and spent the whole day in bed with a frozen knee. By the end of the day the swelling went down as you can see in the second picture. Since then my knee has continued to be sensitive, but I'm taking much better care of it with insoles and wrapping it in KT tape. Finally starting to taste a bit of normality, and I'm super excited about it.
If you also have problems with this, Amazon is a great resource for KT tape or you can just find something similar at a local drug store. Since I was going to Sophia there was one right off of the Yurakucho Line if you get off at Ichigaya Station (Exit 1). It is called Drug Fukutaro Ichigaya Shop. You can also get stuff for bug bites since that becomes a huge issue in the summer. Drug stores are great and I HIGHLY recommend visiting one for your bare necessities. If you need to ice anything I also recommend getting either an ice pack or an ice holder pouch thing at a near by dollar store, and just getting ice from a conbini.
